About John Kish IV
The images in the portfolios here were selected to transmit an approach to photography based on the premise that people look their best when they are fully involved in something other than having their picture taken. The approach results in photos suitable for annual reports, corporate reportage, college admissions, documentaries, trade publications, location and environmental portraits.
It is a process where I do not try to stage a photo, but rather try to create an experience that the camera can witness.
I consider it a privilege to make my living in creative work that transforms the physical world into conceptual ideas. I often feel the majority of the work for a good photo happens before the camera comes out. It is a process that asks questions, brainstorms ideas, and looks for symbolic ways at convey the message. I am comfortable in places such as a shop floor and a job site, a classroom, or a solemn ceremony.
